Camilla Hitchcock LRAD ARAD

School Principal

Camilla began her classical training with Letty Littlewood at The Associated Arts School in Wimbledon.

She trained further with Dame Merle Park and Shirley Grahame.

Camilla gained Distinction in all her ballet, tap and modern examinations at The Arts Educational schools in the Barbican. In 1989 she went to the Royal Academy of Dance to study ballet teaching. She gained her advanced ballet and LRAD and become a licentiate of the Academy in 1991.

Camilla established First Steps Academy in 1993 and has grown the school to be a happy vibrant place where all children enjoy dance whether for fun or seroius dance training.

Camilla holds 100% pass rate in children's RAD ballet examinations.

Nicola Leftwich

Ballet Teacher

Nicola was a professional ballerina touring the world with classical companies including The European Dance Company, Vienna Festival Ballet and Wiener Ballet Theatre. Her solo roles include The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, Les Sylphides and Giselle.

She toured with Bolshoi Ballet star Stanislav Tschassov, partnering him in the White Swan and the pas de deux from The Nutcracker. She also appeared at the Edinburgh Film Festival with modern dance company Reanimators. Nicola has choreographed for various dance shows touring Australia.

Becca has trained in Ballet, Tap and Modern/Jazz from the age of 3 completing grades to Advanced with the National Association of Teachers of Dancing and has taught in a range of dance schools across the South West.

Christina Welsh RTS LRAD

Ballroom and Latin Teacher

Christina is from South London and has studied Ballet from a very young age at Penny Parks School of Dance, she also took up Ballroom and Latin, Tap and Modern throughout her school years. Christina has achieved high marks in all examinations having completed all 8 grades and vocational exams up to and including Advanced 1.

Having studied at the Royal Academy of Dance on BA (Hons) Ballet Education and Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Dance, Christina now teaches a range of ages and stages in both Ballet, Ballroom and Latin. With full knowledge of the RAD graded and vocational syllabi, Christina is a fully qualified Ballet teacher with Registered Teacher status from the RAD. Having come from a dancing family, Christina’s parents were Ballroom competitors, she grew up attending large championships in Bournemouth and Blackpool and has trained in private lessons for 6 years.

Sabina Cameron, Music Dip. BA Hons Acting

Piano & Keyboard Tutor

Sabina is a classically trained pianist and actress. She started playing the piano at the age of 7 and studied independently with ABRSM. Sabina also has a HE Music Diploma with Morley College & gained a distinction in the piano performance element.

Sabina tailors her group classes to ensure that each student is confident with both their theory & keyboard skills. She also offers private sessions where students can focus on working towards their Associated Board for the Royal School of Music examinations.

She has a 100% pass rate with her ABRSM Exam students & offers preparation for practical & theory exams.

Sabina is also a professional actress, she did a BA in Acting at Arts Ed, Chiswick & graduated with a 1st class Hons and is currently working in film, television and theatre.

Wayne Summers-Taylor

Piano & Singing Teacher, Vocal coach

Wayne was born in Swansea, South Wales where he studied piano and organ from an early age.

His interest in singing began early on when he became a lay clerk in Brecon Cathedral Choir, and encouraged by the then choirmaster David Gedge MBE, started singing lessons shortly afterwards. He was regularly called on as soloist in the Cathedral Choir services and concerts.

He went on to study both at the Guildhall School of Music and Trinity College of Music in London with Mollie Petrie, Morag Noble and John Wakefield. He has taken part in masterclasses with Roger Vignoles, Ian Partridge, Raimund Herincx, Martyn Hill and Anthony Roden amongst others.

Opera directors he has worked with include Patrick Libby, Anthony Besch, Carlos Wagner, Robert Cheddar, Michael Hunt and Terry John Bates. Most recently studying in London with the Australian tenor, Anthony Roden.

Wayne has worked as a pianist and accompanist for many years. For some time he had a successful jazz group called the Summers Trio, performing regularly at venues such as Harvey Nichols, Pizza Express, Soho and Jazz After Dark.

He has taught both singing and piano for many years, with several pupils going on to study at professional stage and music schools. He now teaches from his music studio in South Ealing.

Wayne also works as a piano teacher at First Step School Of Dance & Drama.
